This exquisite enamel box features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by renowned artist Richard Stone. Painted over the summers of 1989-1990, the portrait was completed through seven hour-long sittings.
Her Majesty is depicted in regal splendour, adorned in The Robe of State and George IV’s diadem. In the Queens absence, Stone meticulously continued his work in the Yellow Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace, whilst painting the robes and diadem on a lay figure.
Inside the lid are the heartfelt words of Princess Elizabeth in 1947 on her 21st birthday in broadcast from Cape Town that resonated with her lifelong dedication to the service of the Commonwealth. This piece is limited to an edition of 96.
